Details: Beatrice Martin (Coeur de pirate) and Jay Malinowski (lead singer and guitarist in Bedouin Soundclash) have teamed up as Armistice to create a musically diverse 5-song mini-album that showcases the undeniable magic between Martin and Malinowski’s voices. The dictionary describes the word Armistice as « A cessation of hostilities between two warring parties, while an attempt is made to negotiate peace. », and while there was no war involved, Armistice is a rare example of a collaboration between a francophone musician from Quebec and a rocker from English Canada. Armistice is an endearing release that unites the folkier side of Jay’s songwriting style to Beatrice’s meltingly beautiful Euro-style vocals with a Mexican spaghetti-western vibe provided by their backing musicians, The Bronx, an L.A. punk band with mariachi leanings.
