Urban Nostalgia Volume 1 is as close to those early party rockers as you can get on a major label. Using the « urban » definition of nostalgia, where two- and three-year-old songs are considered old school, the Crew mix together hip-hop and soul classics like Boyz II Men’s « Motown Philly, » De La Soul’s « Me, Myself & I, » LL Cool J’s « Doin’ It, » and, oddly, Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s « Shimmy Shimmy Ya, » cutting up the tracks with their own between-song patter.
