What began as praise in his hometown of London has now reached to every corner of the globeAlbum sessions began on Osea Island, a tidal island in an estuary off Essex where the winding coastal road is submerged for 8 of every 12 hours. It was here that SBTRKT began the early stages of the recording process, inviting a host of collaborators to join him record throughout the night free from any distraction the tapes continuously rolled and every creative impulse was documented.Inspired by this new open method of recording, and ready to focus his new found ideas into more intense sessions, SBTRKT visited America armed with a wish list of collaborators to track down. It was here he worked with newcomer Raury, Ezra Koenig from Vampire Weekend, A$AP Ferg and Warpaints Emily Kokal.The albums first single, New Dorp. New York, features Ezra Koenig. Over a bed of busy clacking and thwacking production, the Vampire Weekend frontman and SBTRKT speak-sing an ode of sorts to the Big Apple.Sure, he can hide his identity, but there’s no denying his emergence as one of dance music’s notable producers, very well steeped in his own layered aesthetic, yet open enough to welcome other musical influences into the fold. – Pre Fix MagArtist & Album InformationWonder Where We Land features 15 new tracks from the artist. The album’s recording sessions began on Osea Island, a small island off Essex, where SBTRKT would sketch out songs and collaborate with Sampha, Koreless and Caroline Polachek through the night. The artists would collaborate and record every impulse while animations were projected on the walls.From there, the producer travelled to Los Angeles and New York in search of more collaborations. The final album features the aforementioned three artists, as well as Raury, Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend, Jessie Ware and A$AP Ferg, among others. All of these guests ended up on the final LP. In addition to the previously released « Temporary View, » there are three other collaborations with Sampha. »With this album I wanted to bring a wider, immersive storyline without losing the simplicity of the song, » SBTRKT said. « I wanted to let go of the rules that dictate a certain genre or aesthetic and create something unique to the people I’m collaborating with at the time. »
